Rosalind (Rosie) Price/34/Female/5'6"

Birthday: February 9th

Occupation: Archaeologist

Personality: Rosalind has always been very curious and imaginative, but she's also a very quiet and nervous person and that can get in the way of her doing all she's ever wanted to. She's not necessarily shy, but she's never been much for small talk or talking in general and is more reluctant to approach people or be approached simply due to the effort it takes to speak. Given the time to plan what she wants to say, she's an eloquent enough speaker, but she struggles with meeting people or even in conversation when she needs to come up with words on the fly. It takes her a while to warm up to people, but Rosie is pretty sweet natured with those she's comfortable around, although she can be nosy as well. A very private person herself though, she's also good at not sharing what she learns about others.

Rosie does get very passionate talking about her research. She loves to learn and loves to share what she's learned, but that's about the only thing that can get her really running her mouth. It's easy to tell when she gets excited about any subject though because she gets very physically expressive, and so even when she's not saying much, hopefully her feelings are clear from her facial expression or her arms flailing around. She runs out of steam quickly though, and is a little frazzled and distracted in general. Her workspace is a mess but she's happy that way.

History: Born and raised in Ambrette town, Rosalind moved to Castelia city when she was 18 to study with a professor researching the ruins in the Desert Resort. Although she had grown up around Pokemon (her parents had a couple as pets, and of course she encountered plenty, wild and trained alike, in the desert route outside Castelia), she had never raised one herself. When their research brought the crew upon a stash of fossils (collected for medicinal purposes, maybe?), she got permission to take a well preserved Cover fossil home and have it revived into her first 'mon, a Tirtouga she named Rae. It wasn't long after that that a coworker's Xatu laid a clutch of eggs and he agreed to let Rosie have one of the Natu eggs as well. Once they had a little training under their belt, she put the 'mons to use, Sharad keeping an eye out for wild Pokemon or other dangers during work hours, and Rae keeping dust down. Sharad ultimately gained a lot more experience from that, and being in general a more willing worker, he's long been the stronger of the pair level-wise.

Since then, she has traveled with her team a bit to whatever research opportunity she could get a hold of. Rosie has never led an expedition (and has no desire to), but always keeps an eye out for studies that sound interesting and has therefore been around to several of the different Pokemon regions by this point. She has no particular goal of her own on what to study, although the old cultures in the Verot region have certainly caught her attention more than other cultures she has studied.

Rosie moved to the Verot region in her early thirties after getting wind of a research opportunity studying the ruins out there. The idea of Yveltal and pretty-much everything in the region is pretty new to her, but she's been putting her all into playing catch up on what's been found so far and working with the archaology crew she's now a part of out there. She acquired Chani from a breeder not long after moving to the new region too, but has so far failed to make close bonds with anything other than Pokemon. That isn't exactly new to her; she's only made a few good friends over the years but she does her best to keep up with them.

Likes/Dislikes:

+ Asking questions and learning all the useless trivia she can

+ Seafood

+ Warm weather

+ Reading

- Really chatty or touchy strangers

- Large, noisy groups

- Not being taken seriously

Relationships:

Thomas Price: Rosie's father. Thomas worked at the fossil lab in Ambrette town, working and maintaining the machines for fossil revival (he is very recently retired now though). He is a fairly boisterous but helpful person and the person Rosie generally goes to when she needs advice on things. He's also a big fan of Rhyhorn racing- although he's never participated seriously himself (Keala would never dream of letting him do that)- and would take Rosie all over Kalos when she was a child to watch them.

Keala Price:Rosie's mother. She is a paleobotanist that also works in the Ambrette fossil lab, although in her case largely to do research. She was a little disappointed when Rosie didn't go into paleontology herself, but has always given her daughter all the support she could. Keala is originally from the Sevii islands off the coast of Kanto and loves to reminisce about that life. She has a big family back there too, which she, her husband and daughter would visit semi-frequently, and Keala on her own makes a point of seeing at least once a year. She is a much quieter mannered woman than her husband, but can get quite loud in the right company (mostly, her siblings). She has a Dewgong and a Vaporeon that were Pokemon of hers when she lived in the Sevii islands. They're quite old by this point and don't do much, but Keala still pampers them all she can.

Major: Rosie ran into Major in a busy coffee shop one morning when she was living in Castelia City and they just kind of hit it off. They grew to be good friends and although she hasn't seen him much lately since she's been living mostly in Sinnoh and Verot for the last nine or so years, she still has kept up with him.

Additional Notes: Rosie likes swimming, going snorkeling and scuba diving. She's a pescetarian, although largely just because she doesn't like red meat. I'm not sure exactly how schooling works in the Pokemon world, but she'd have the equivalent of a PhD by this point (based on how it works around here, she started college in Castelia city and got her BS in Anthropology- she had hook-ups from her parents, both of whom were workers at the Ambrette museum that got her started with research pretty-much when she started college as well and that's helped her out a lot. She got her Masters in Unova as well, and then went to Sinnoh for a PhD in Archaeology, with a dissertation on the balance and history of Dialga, Palkia and Giratina within the old Arceism religion in Sinnoh. Although she loves to study ancient religions, she is agnostic herself.

Other trivia:
:bulletblue: If you haven't guessed by now, she's a giant nerd
:bulletblack: She likes crafts like scrapbooking and making cute decorations and that sort of thing, although she has little time for it (her fault though). She's a doodler too and even though the actual written part of her notes is maybe something about her that's actually organized, her scribbles sure take away from that.
:bulletblue: She never initiates touch with people unless they're really close friends but once you pass that point she is basically a cat and will be all over you in the most obnoxious way possible. Her intentions are entirely platonic but she can be pretty intimate.
:bulletblack: Jokes are not her strong point. I'm sorry, but her sense of humor is pretty-much the equivalent of a piece of plywood.

Battle Tactics: Rosie has the potential to be a strategic battler but freaks out a little too much seeing her Pokemon get hurt to keep her focus. Therefore, she mostly avoids serious battles, but she knows her Pokemon enjoy stretching their limbs every now and then and is is willing to engage in friendly practice matches. She is largely a defensive fighter and likes using moves in less conventional ways, like using attacks to block attacks or change the playing field rather than strictly to do damage. Battles with her tend to be long but, again, she doesn't like seeing Pokemon hurt and so beating her opponent by wearing their Pokemon out is definitely how she'd rather things go.
That is, of course, supposing she's in an environment where she feels like she can safely do that. Against wild Pokemon or very extreme trainers where she feels like her Pokemon are in legitimate danger, she will work harder to end the battle quickly and get out of there.

--Pokemon Info--

Name: Rae

Pokemon: Tirtouga (F)

Level: 37

Ability: Solid Rock

Type: Water/Rock

Attacks:

-Crunch/Dark/80/100/15

-Protect/Normal/-/-/10

-Rock Slide/Rock/75/90/10 (TM)

-Scald/Water/80/100/15 (TM)

Personality: Quirky and droll, Rae is pretty even-tempered but has as much of a mischevious streak as being a sea turtle will allow. About all that is is sliding slowly up to Sharad when he's staring at something and then smacking him, which unfortunately has led to those two not having the greatest relationship, but she makes the most of it. Rae definitely has a strong sense of self-preservation and would never mess with anything that could seriously harm her (and is reluctant to be pushed into being involved with anything of that sort either). Rae is pretty independent by nature, but appreciates the company of her team.

Short History: Possibly not entirely pleased about being brought back from the dead, Rae got off to a rocky start with Rosalind. Although she's come to like her trainer much more over the years, she hasn't ever given up on testing her trainer where she can. Rosie's come to find (or at least decide) that Rae does this out of fondness for her and not just that she was cursed with a 'mon that hates her, although that doesn't keep her with getting frustrated with her turtle's disobedience. She's just glad that Rae can't get up to much, and in fact prefers her Pokeball over being out and about.

Name: Sharad

Pokemon: Xatu (M)

Level: 46

Ability: Synchronize

Type: Psychic/Flying

Attacks:

-Psychic/Psychic/90/100/10 (TM)

-Air Cutter/Flying/60/95/25 (Move Tutor, learned while doing research in Sinnoh)

-Confuse Ray/Ghost/-/100/10

-Shadow Ball/Ghost/80/100/15 (TM)

Personality: Sharad has a tendency to grow intensely focused on whatever he has on his mind, at the cost of paying any attention to his surroundings. He's a little hard to startle, but his reactions are always dramatic once he has been, and he has some trouble regaining his focus after it has been broken. He's quick to grow snappy and disgruntled with anyone that purposely interrupts him, but he is a little better at being understanding when he knows it was an accident (like Rosie needs him for something and didn't know he was thinking very deeply about the delicious flavor of Sentret). He is friendly to those he knows well but can be suspicious and nippy towards strangers. Sharad has never made use of his psychic abilities to do much talking, but has been known to telepathically screech the occassional brief warning, something just one or two words long like "Danger!" or "Don't move!". Rosie finds it pretty disconcerting, especially since there's rarely any immediate danger but he is instead just overreacting to something.

Short History: Sharad has known Rosie since he was newly hatched, and is pretty firmly attached to her. He generally stays outside his Pokeball and likes to keep an eye out for Rosie and the team. He gets flustered when Rosie does, and so training him has given her good practice staying calm, although she's still far from mastering it.

Name: Chani

Pokemon: Phanpy (F)

Level: 23

Ability: Sand Veil

Type: Ground

Attacks:

-Endeavor/Normal/??/100/5 (Egg move)

-Body Slam/Normal/85/100/15 (Egg move)

-Play Rough/Fairy/90/90/10 (Egg move)

-Sandstorm/Rock/-/-/10 (TM)

Personality: Chani is sweet tempered and playful, although her playfulness is along the more rough-and-tumble end of the spectrum. Being a baby elephant, that can make her a little hazardous, but she means well. She's still young and prone to childish mistakes, but doing her best to learn and be a helpful member of her team. Of Rosie's Pokemon, she's also probably the one who has the most fun battling, although that may also be because she's been babied by her teammates and trainer and kept out of any very serious fights and so doesn't have a clear idea of what that can actually involve.

Short History: Chani was born and raised in the care of trainers. Having never known the wild and being the baby of Rosie's team, she's had a pretty easy life. She's never had any trouble getting along with Rosie, or anyone really. She can be a bit bullheaded with her insistence that she likes everyone and everyone likes her, but it's something Rosie and her team find endearing, so it at least works out for Chani at home. She gets a little frustrated sometimes when Rosie holds her back from a battle or some sort of challenge she doesn't think Chani is up to, but for now Chani trusts pretty implicitly in her trainer and they have few arguments.

RP Info: dA notes or Skype are where I mainly rp. I'm happy to rp on Tumblr too, although I prefer doing sketch rps there over just text ones just because I can. :P I know those move a lot slower but they are fun. Either format is totally cool with me on Tumblr too though.

Still Mish's fault

and if Dune exists in this universe, yes, Rosie is totally a geek about it and that's where Chani's name comes from.

I love the way you draw pokemon. They're realistic to degree, but also really stylized. They look so cool. I love the little details, like Rae's skin texture, Sharad's feathers, and the folds in Chani's knees. Is it weird that I like those things? It's probably weird.

Anyway, Rosie seems like a really great character. Her and Dani seem to have a lot in common, so maybe they'd get along? They can talk about ruins and old things. And Rosie's research, of course. *3*
